BERBERIS THU HELMOND PILLAR
Grower Notes:
Berberis thunbergii 'Helmond Pillar' is commonly referred to as Helmond Pillar Japanese Barberry. It is a multi-stemmed, upright columnar deciduous shrub. Its foliage is nearly the same size and color as Berberis 'Crimson Pygmy' and would be an excellent substitute. It features deep reddish-purple, variably sized leaves on reddish brown stems. It pairs nicely with green or golden foliage of surrounding plants. It has glossy, bright red berries in fall and showy red fall color.
Helmond Pillar Barberry thrives in full to part sun in average, well-drained soils. It will not tolerate standing water. It can be drought tolerant once established. Its fine texture and superb color set this cultivar apart from other landscape plants. Highly tolerate of urban pollution and environmental salt.
